Who We Are

We are financial planners and investment managers.

For over 30 years Pinney & Scofield has worked with individuals and families to help plan for their futures and achieve their most important financial goals. Many of our clients come to us with a specific goal in mind - to pay for college, to purchase a second home or to plan for retirement, for example. They stay with us long-term because they receive a highly personalized experience and consistent, thoughtful and conflict-free advice.

We believe in a fresh, honest approach to financial planning and investing that results in long-term relationships with our clients.

Our Philosophy

At Pinney & Scofield, our clients are our first priority. We devote our time to get to know each and every one of you, as well as your individual financial goals and aspirations. We believe in adding value through our financial planning and portfolio management services. As such, we run our business by the following tenets:

Honesty and Integrity

Our business was built on the long-term relationships we have with our clients. Such relationships must be based on trust, and this trust occurs only when we act with the utmost honesty and integrity. We focus on our clients best interests and provide transparency in everything we do.

Fee-Only Advising

We are true fee-only financial advisors. We do not sell products and have no financial relationship with any party other than our clients. Our only source of revenue comes from the value of your portfolio – we do not charge commissions or referral fees. We are, therefore, free to focus on your priorities and to provide you with objective and unbiased advice.

Client Education

We make education an integral part of each client relationship. Developing a solid understanding, both of one’s own situation, and also of the general ways the financial markets work, is very important. It is our experience that our clients will work harder to implement a plan that is clear, reasonable and understood.

Individual Attention

Every client and situation is unique; therefore, we do not provide “cookie cutter” plans or investment recommendations. We tailor the content, scope and presentation of each plan and Investment Policy Statement to each client’s particular situation. This creates successful planning and investing.

Checks and Balances

For over 30 years we have used independent outside custodians to hold our clients’ assets. These custodians independently send confirmations after every trade and provide monthly statements that can be compared with our quarterly reports to verify the holdings are the same. We have always felt this was important from the start of our business, and it is even more important today.
